Amy Besnard
I live in beautiful Chico, California and am in my sixteenth year teaching English at Pleasant Valley High School, a public school with approximately 2,000 students. I have always had a deep-rooted interest in educating students for the 21st century and am constantly looking for new ways to challenge myself and my students to better prepare them for the world in which we live.
My husband is the principal of an elementary school and our sons are both in the early stages of education (3rd grade and pre-school). We try to instill a love of education, travel, and life-long learning in our children. One of our many goals is to make our children feel as though they are true "global citizens" who are genuinely invested in the well being of all.

My goals for participating in the Teaching in Global Classrooms Program were to learn more about Global Education and how to apply what I learned about Global Education in a practical way while still embracing new common core curriculum, digital standards, and 21st century skills. In addition, I hoped to open new doors of collaboration with U.S. teachers as well as teachers abroad.
